ScyB (leucine dehydrogenase) generator
Our research has focused onnovel biosynthetic pathways for UV-protectant compounds found in two distinct algal species. One leading to the production of the unrelated UV-screening compound scytonemin was cloned from Nostoc punctiforme. ScyB (NpR1275), an acetolactate synthetase, carries out the first step in scytonemin biosynthesis, converting L-tryptophan to 3-indole pyruvic acid.
This part includes a modified constitutive lac promoter (lacP'), and RBS and the open reading frame of scyB. This part can be used to express ScyB protein in E. coli.
